SEO Company in Kolkata.

Search Engine Optimisation

Are we saying we put the S in SEO? No, but we certainly put the Q in Quality SEO.

Most businesses looking for an SEO company in Kolkata do not have an SEO problem. They have a specific, findable technical or content problem that is stopping an otherwise decent website from ranking.

We find that thing, fix it, and then build on top of it: technical SEO, on-page work, content, local SEO and links. White-hat only. Six-month scopes, because anything shorter cannot be judged honestly.

Our SEO services in Kolkata run for clinics, manufacturers, D2C labels and NGOs, out of an office in Ballygunge, and for clients elsewhere in India who need the same work done.

What we will not do is promise you a number one ranking. Google does not sell them, and neither does any agency that intends to keep your business.

How we work

A Glance at How We Work

  1. Choosing the Perfect Keywords

Choosing relevant keywords is crucial for your business to show up on search queries. We analyse these keywords to find the perfect fit for your business.

  2. On and Off-Page Optimisation

Based on the keywords we perform on-page and off-page SEO. We optimise the meta tags, headings, sitemaps and build links.

  3. Analysis and Tracking

Once the link building is carried out, it is time to analyse and monitor the performance of the website. Analysis tells us which strategies are working and which aren’t. We revise the workflow accordingly.

We have the perfect recipe for optimisation!

Why your site is not ranking

In our experience the cause is usually one of five things, and it is rarely the one the client expects.

Google cannot crawl or index it properly

Blocked resources, a stray noindex left over from a staging site, a broken canonical, JavaScript that renders content the crawler never sees. The site looks fine to you and half-invisible to Google.

This is so common because nobody on the client side ever sees it. Your browser renders the page and your team signs it off; the one visitor who matters quietly gives up. The first thing we do on any engagement is establish how many of your pages Google actually holds, against the number you think you published.

The pages are too thin to compete

A 200-word service page will not outrank a 2,000-word one, however good the design. If your competitors have answered the question and you have not, they win.

Thin is not only about length. The test we apply is simple: could somebody make a buying decision from this page without calling you? If the answer is no, the page is a brochure, and brochures do not rank.

There is no local signal

For a Kolkata clinic or shop, the Google Business Profile, the NAP consistency across directories, and the location signals on your own pages carry enormous weight. Most sites we audit have all three wrong.

The site is slow on a phone

Most searches in Kolkata happen on a mobile connection. If your page takes eight seconds, people leave, and Google notices they left.

Speed is measured on a mid-range Android phone on a patchy connection, not on the office fibre line and a new laptop. That gap is where most sites lose.

Nobody links to you

Links remain a ranking factor. If no credible site references yours, you are competing on content alone against people who are not.

What our SEO service covers

Every engagement is scoped individually, but the work is drawn from the same seven areas. A single-location clinic weights the local and technical work heavily and barely touches link building; a manufacturer selling across India does the reverse.

Technical SEO audit and fixes

Crawl and indexation, site architecture, internal linking, canonicals, redirects, structured data, Core Web Vitals, mobile rendering, XML sitemap and robots.txt. We produce the audit, then we do the fixing. Handing over a PDF and walking off is not a service.

Keyword research

What people in your market actually type, mapped to intent. A query where someone wants to learn needs a different page from a query where someone wants to book. We split them and build accordingly.

Volume is the least interesting column in a keyword sheet. A handful of searches a month from people ready to book is worth more to a diagnostic centre than a high-volume term typed by students writing an assignment. We sort for intent first, and we tell you which terms we are deliberately not chasing, and why.

On-page optimisation

Title tags, meta descriptions, headings, body copy, image alt text and internal links. Not keyword stuffing. Making each page unambiguously about one thing.

The commonest on-page failure we find is not a missing keyword; it is two or three pages competing for the same one. Google picks one, usually not the one you would have picked, and splits your authority across the rest. Sorting that out costs an afternoon of decisions and often moves more than a month of new content.

Content

Service pages, location pages, guides and articles. Written to be read by a human first, structured so a search engine and an AI answer engine can both extract from it.

Local SEO

Google Business Profile setup and optimisation, category selection, posts, review handling, citation consistency, and location signals on your own site. This is the highest-return work for any single-location business in Kolkata.

Link building

Earned and outreach-based. Digital PR, relevant directories, partner and supplier links, content worth citing. No link farms, no PBNs, no paid link networks. The short-term gain is not worth the domain.

Reporting

Monthly. Rankings for the terms that matter, organic sessions, enquiries, and what we changed. Written so you can read it in five minutes.

Technical SEO, and why we start there

Technical SEO is unglamorous and it is where the fastest movement usually lives. Content and links compound slowly; an indexation bug fixed on a Tuesday can put pages back into the index by the following week. So the first month is weighted toward the technical audit, and we fix as we find rather than saving everything for a presentation.

Crawl and index coverage

We crawl the site the way Google does, then compare that against what Search Console reports it has actually indexed. The gap between the two is the report. Pages excluded as duplicates, pages discovered but never crawled, pages returning a soft 404 while looking perfectly normal to you — each has a different cause and a different fix.

Site architecture and internal linking

A page sitting four clicks from the homepage with one internal link pointing at it is telling Google it does not matter. Most of the internal linking work we do is not adding links for their own sake; it is making the structure match the commercial priority. The pages that earn money should be the easiest to reach.

Core Web Vitals and mobile rendering

Largest Contentful Paint, Interaction to Next Paint and Cumulative Layout Shift, measured on real mobile hardware rather than a desktop simulation. Image formats and sizing, render-blocking scripts, font loading and layout shift. When a site is beyond tuning we will say so rather than bill you for months of marginal gains on a broken foundation.

Structured data

Organization, LocalBusiness, Service, Article, FAQ and Breadcrumb markup where each genuinely applies. Structured data does not lift rankings by itself. It helps Google resolve what your business is and what each page is for, and it is increasingly what AI answer engines read when deciding who to cite. We do not add review or rating markup unless a real, honestly sourced rating is displayed on the page, because that is what Google's guidelines require.

Redirects, canonicals and migrations

Old URLs from a previous site that were never redirected, chains passing through three hops, canonicals pointing at the wrong version of a page. This is where sites quietly lose the authority they spent years earning, and it is invisible until somebody looks.

Local SEO in Kolkata

If you serve customers who can physically reach you, local SEO is the highest-leverage work available and usually the most neglected. Someone searching for a dentist, a diagnostic centre or a printing firm in Kolkata is shown a map pack of three businesses before a single classic organic result. Being fourth in that list is the same as being nowhere.

The Google Business Profile is the asset, not the website

For local queries the profile does most of the work. Primary and secondary categories, services listed individually, correct hours including holidays, real photographs of the actual premises, and posts that are not left to go stale. Category selection alone moves more than most people expect; the wrong primary category can keep an otherwise strong business out of the pack entirely.

NAP consistency

Your name, address and phone number should read identically everywhere they appear: your site, your profile, Justdial, IndiaMART, Sulekha, industry directories, your Facebook page. Where they conflict, Google has to decide which version to trust, and the usual outcome is that it trusts none of them enough. Auditing and correcting citations is dull work that pays.

Reviews

Review count, recency and response rate all feed local visibility, and they are also what a prospect reads before calling. We help you build a process for asking — at the right moment, from real customers, without incentives — and we write the responses to the negative ones. We do not buy reviews, we do not write reviews, and we will not work with anyone who wants us to.

Location signals on your own site

Your address in the footer and in LocalBusiness markup, an embedded map, and service pages that name the areas you cover without turning into a hundred near-identical pages. That last restraint matters: Google has been explicit about doorway pages for years, and a folder of thin location pages is a liability rather than an asset.

Areas we serve in Kolkata

We work from one office, at 17R Dover Terrace in Ballygunge, and we serve the whole city from it. There are no branch offices and we are not going to pretend otherwise. What follows is where our clients are and what we actually notice about search in each part of the city — not a page per neighbourhood, because those pages help nobody.

Ballygunge and Gariahat

Our own neighbourhood, off Dover Road in south Kolkata, dense with clinics, chambers, boutiques and small professional practices. Local search here is fiercely competitive over a very small radius. Proximity is one of Google's local ranking inputs, so a practice on Gariahat Road and one at Ballygunge Phari can rank very differently for the same person standing between them, and what separates them is usually the profile and the reviews.

Park Street, Park Circus and central Kolkata

Hospitality, retail, professional services and a lot of head offices. Intent here skews toward immediate decisions — somewhere to eat, somebody to call this afternoon — so profile completeness, correct hours and photographs carry more weight than blog depth. It is also where duplicate and outdated listings are most common, because businesses have moved and the old citations never did.

Salt Lake and Sector V

The IT and corporate belt, and the one part of the city where a meaningful share of buying research happens on a desktop during working hours. B2B clients here compete for terms with genuinely national intent, so the work leans toward content depth and links rather than the map pack. Sector V businesses often need both: a local profile for the office, and a national organic strategy for the product.

New Town and Rajarhat

New, still growing, and full of categories where nobody has established authority yet — schools, clinics, gyms, home services. Local competition is thinner than in south Kolkata, which means a properly built profile and a handful of decent pages can put you in the pack faster than the same effort would elsewhere in the city.

Tollygunge, Behala and south-west Kolkata

Largely residential and served by neighbourhood businesses. Searches here are strongly "near me", the buying window is short, and the decision is frequently made on the phone screen without visiting a website at all. For a business in this belt we would put nearly all of the early budget into the Business Profile, reviews and speed.

Alipore, Bhowanipore and New Alipore

Professional services, healthcare, education and premium retail. Buyers here research more before they call, which is one of the few parts of the city where a well-written service page earns its cost quickly. What people find when they search your business name is often the deciding factor.

North Kolkata — Shyambazar, Hatibagan, Maniktala

Established trade, wholesale and long-standing family businesses, many with decades of goodwill and almost no digital footprint. The commonest situation we find here is a business everyone in the area knows and Google does not. The first year is foundational: claim the profile, fix the citations, build a site that loads.

Howrah

Across the river and a market of its own, with heavy manufacturing, trading and healthcare. We work with clients here, including Jain Hospital Howrah. Search behaviour splits sharply between local service queries and product queries reaching well beyond the district, so the two are worth scoping separately.

Dum Dum, Lake Town, Garia and Jadavpur

Dense residential catchments with student populations, coaching centres and a large volume of small retail. Categories are competitive but the competition is rarely doing the basics well, and the map pack changes noticeably block by block. Precision on categories and service listings matters more than breadth.

Outside these areas — anywhere else in West Bengal, or elsewhere in India — the work is the same and it is done over calls and shared reporting. The further your customers are from your front door, the more the budget shifts from the Business Profile toward content and links.

What does SEO cost in Kolkata?

SEO engagements with us start at Rs 25,000 a month. The scope is set in a paid consultation (Rs 1,500) - an hour with Rohit on your actual site and market, not a sales call, and the advice is yours to keep whoever you hire. The scope decides the figure: a single-location clinic competing in one neighbourhood is a different job from an e-commerce catalogue competing across India, and pricing them the same would shortchange one of them.

Two things we hold to at every price. The scope is written down before we start, so you know what the retainer covers. And we do not promise rankings at any price, because nobody controls Google - we promise the work, the reporting and the standard it is done to.

What moves the number

The size of the site, first: fifty product pages and five thousand are different jobs. Then the competitiveness of the terms, because outranking two other clinics in Ballygunge is not the same as outranking a national aggregator. Then the state of the site you are starting from, since a fast, well-built site can absorb SEO work immediately while a slow one needs development before any of it counts. And finally how much content and link acquisition the scope includes, which is the part most agencies leave vague.

What is not in the retainer

Paid media budget, if you also run ads. Third-party software licensed in your own name. Development on platforms we do not have access to. Photography and video. We list these before you sign rather than raising them in month three.

How we work

Month 1: audit and fix

Full technical crawl, keyword and competitor research, Google Business Profile review. We fix the blocking issues immediately rather than waiting for a strategy sign-off.

Months 2 to 3: on-page and content

Rewriting and restructuring the pages that already have some visibility, because moving a page from position 12 to position 4 is faster than creating a page from nothing.

Months 4 to 6: expansion and authority

New pages for gaps, link acquisition, local signal work, and the first meaningful movement in traffic.

Month 6 onward: compounding

This is where organic search starts to pay. Content that ranked in month four keeps ranking. Links keep accruing. The cost per enquiry drops every month you continue.

We do not run a fixed calendar regardless of what the site needs. If month one turns up a site that cannot be fixed — a platform that will not let us edit a title tag, or a build so slow that nothing else matters — we will say so in the first fortnight and recommend spending the budget on the website instead. That conversation is cheaper for both of us than five months of polite reporting on a problem we cannot reach.

What you get every month

Reporting is where most retainers become unfalsifiable. A dashboard with forty green metrics and no narrative is not accountability; it is decoration. What we send is deliberately plain.

  • What we changed, page by page, with links so you can look at it yourself.
  • Rankings for the terms that matter, including the ones that moved the wrong way. A report that only shows winners is not a report.
  • Organic sessions and enquiries, taken from your own Google Analytics and Search Console properties.
  • Google Business Profile performance — calls, direction requests, profile views — for clients where local search is the point.
  • What we are doing next month, and what we need from you to do it.

Your accounts stay in your name. Analytics, Search Console, the Business Profile and any advertising accounts belong to your business and we work inside them as a user. An agency that holds those in its own name has built a hostage into the relationship.

SEO for clinics and hospitals

A large part of our client list sits in healthcare, including Jain Hospital Howrah, Arton Clinics, MCKV Health and Charring Cross.

Healthcare SEO has constraints the rest of the market does not:

  • Google treats medical content as high-stakes. Pages must show who wrote them and on what authority. Unattributed medical claims do not rank, and should not.
  • Search is local and urgent. Someone searching for a diagnostic centre near Howrah is choosing in the next hour, not the next month. Google Business Profile and map visibility matter more than blog volume.
  • Reviews are the deciding factor. For clinics, review count and recency influence both the map pack and the patient. Review generation is part of the work, not an afterthought.
  • Claims must stay defensible. We write outcomes carefully and will push back on claims that cannot be evidenced.

In practice this means a clinic engagement is weighted toward the profile, the department and treatment pages, doctor profiles with real credentials attached, and page speed — because a patient on a phone outside a chemist will not wait. Volume blogging comes last, if at all.

SEO for e-commerce, manufacturers and B2B

Outside healthcare, the two patterns we see most in Kolkata are catalogues and considered B2B purchases, and they need almost opposite treatment.

E-commerce

The work is structural before it is creative: category pages that can rank, faceted navigation that does not generate thousands of crawlable duplicates, product schema, out-of-stock handling that does not throw away a page's history, and internal linking that pushes authority to the categories that make margin. We cover this in more detail on our e-commerce SEO page.

Manufacturers and B2B

Long sales cycles, small search volumes, high order values. Ranking for a dozen highly specific product and specification terms can be worth more than ranking for something with a thousand searches a month. The content that wins is technical, written for somebody who already knows the category, and usually needs an hour of your engineer's time rather than a copywriter's imagination. Enquiry quality is the metric, not sessions.

What SEO cannot do for you

Worth saying plainly, because it saves both of us three months.

  • It will not produce enquiries next week. If you need volume this month, fund paid ads and let SEO build underneath it.
  • It will not fix a bad offer. Ranking a page that nobody wants to act on just gets you cheaper disappointment.
  • It will not survive a bad website. If the site is slow and unusable, SEO delivers people to a page that loses them. Fix the website first.
  • It does not stop. Competitors keep publishing and Google keeps changing. Six months of SEO followed by nothing decays.
  • It will not replace every other channel. Organic search captures people already looking for you or your category. Creating that demand in the first place is a job for content and social media marketing and paid media.

How to choose an SEO agency in Kolkata

This section costs us work occasionally, and we would rather publish it than not. If you are comparing an SEO company in Kolkata against two others, these are the questions that separate them, and they apply to us as much as to anyone.

Ask what happens in month one, specifically

A good answer names deliverables: a crawl, an index coverage comparison, keyword and competitor research, a Business Profile audit, a prioritised list of fixes. A weak answer talks about strategy and onboarding without naming a single artefact you will receive.

Ask who is doing the work

Not who is in the pitch — the person who writes your title tags and edits your pages. If the agency cannot tell you, the work is being subcontracted and you are paying a margin for a layer that adds nothing.

Ask them to explain a ranking guarantee

Anyone guaranteeing a number one position is either defining "ranking" loosely enough to be meaningless — position one for your own brand name, or for a phrase nobody searches — or does not understand what they are selling. Ask which keyword, at what volume, measured how, and watch the answer narrow.

Ask what they will not do

An agency with a real methodology has a list of tactics it refuses: bought links, private blog networks, reviews that are not from customers, spun content, doorway pages. If nothing is off the table, everything is on it, and it is your domain carrying the risk.

Ask who owns the accounts, and see the reporting

Analytics, Search Console, the Business Profile, the ad accounts and the domain should all be in your business's name. Then ask to see a month's reporting for an existing client, redacted. You are looking at whether it explains what changed and why, or whether it is a graph export with a covering paragraph.

Why choose Digi Kydo as your SEO agency in Kolkata

We fix, we do not just report. The audit is the start of the work, not the deliverable.

Six-month scopes. Priced and planned so both sides can judge it fairly.

White-hat only. Nothing that puts your domain at risk for a quarterly bump.

We work in healthcare regularly, which is the hardest category to get right in SEO.

You speak to the person doing the work. Small team in Ballygunge, no account management layer.

We build the sites too. SEO and website development sit in the same office, so a technical recommendation does not have to survive a negotiation with a third-party developer before anything happens. You can see all our digital marketing services and who we are.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do SEO services cost in Kolkata?
SEO engagements with Digi Kydo start at Rs 25,000 a month, and the final figure depends on scope. A single-location clinic targeting local search sits near the floor; a national e-commerce catalogue with thousands of product pages sits well above it. The scope is written down before the engagement starts, so you know exactly what the retainer covers.
How long does SEO take to work?
Plan for six months before organic traffic moves in a way you can depend on. Technical fixes and Google Business Profile work can show results within a few weeks. Competitive national terms take longer than local ones. Any agency promising rankings in thirty days is describing something other than SEO.
Can you guarantee a number one ranking on Google?
No, and neither can anyone else. Google does not sell rankings and its algorithm changes constantly. What Digi Kydo commits to is the scope of work, the reasoning behind each change, and monthly reporting on what moved.
Is there a contract, and what is the minimum term?
Yes. There is a written scope and a written agreement, and the minimum engagement is six months. That is not a lock-in tactic; it is the shortest period over which SEO can be judged honestly, and quoting three months would mean selling you something neither of us could evaluate. The scope states what is delivered each month, so if the work is not happening you can see it in the reporting.
What does the Rs 1,500 consultation involve?
An hour with Rohit on your actual site and market. We look at your site, your Search Console data if you have it, your Google Business Profile and the competitors currently ranking, and you leave with a specific view of what is holding the site back and what it would take to fix. It is a paid session rather than a sales call, and the advice is yours to keep whoever you hire afterwards. We charge for it because an hour of real diagnostic work costs us an hour, and because a session nobody pays for tends to turn into a sales pitch with a spreadsheet attached.
What tools do you use?
Google Search Console and Google Analytics for anything we report as fact, because they are your properties and your data rather than a vendor's estimate. Google Business Profile insights for local performance. Semrush for keyword volume, difficulty and competitor visibility. A site crawler for technical audits, and PageSpeed Insights for Core Web Vitals. Tools inform the work; nothing in your monthly report is a third-party estimate presented as a result.
Do you outsource the work?
No. The technical work, the on-page work and the writing are done by our own team in Ballygunge, and you deal directly with the people doing it rather than an account manager relaying messages. Where a specialist skill genuinely sits outside the team — video production, for instance — we tell you who is doing it before it starts, rather than presenting it as ours.
What is the difference between local SEO and regular SEO?
Local SEO targets searches with geographic intent, such as "diagnostic centre near me" or "dentist in Ballygunge", and depends heavily on the Google Business Profile, review signals and directory consistency. Regular SEO targets searches without a location attached and depends more on content depth and links. Most Kolkata businesses need both, weighted toward local.
Do you use white-hat SEO only?
Yes. Digi Kydo builds links through digital PR, relevant directories, partner relationships and content worth citing. No link farms, no private blog networks, no purchased link packages. Those tactics can produce a short-term rise and a long-term penalty.
What will I receive each month, and who owns the data?
A written report covering what we changed with links to the pages, rankings for the agreed terms including the ones that fell, organic sessions and enquiries, Business Profile performance where local search matters, and the plan for next month. Your Analytics, Search Console, Business Profile and advertising accounts stay in your business's name throughout, and you keep all of it including the history if the engagement ends.
Do you work with businesses outside Kolkata?
Yes. Clients elsewhere in West Bengal and across India work with us over calls and shared reporting, and the work is identical apart from the weighting: the further your customers are from a physical location, the less the Google Business Profile matters and the more the budget moves toward content, technical work and links. Kolkata and Howrah clients who prefer to meet are welcome at the Ballygunge office.
What happens if I stop SEO after six months?
Rankings do not vanish overnight, but they decay. Pages that rank keep ranking for a while, then competitors publish better content and overtake them. SEO behaves like maintenance rather than a one-off installation.
